In Topic: Using Greek Characters Instead Of Greeklish

01 October 2006 - 02:15 AM

i only have the english language on my computer, so i cant write in greek letters even if i wanted to.
also i feel if i use greek words that other people are not familiar with, if they are really interested they ask what it means.
but i can understand wanting to use brackets for the translation. i dont do it on purpose, i usually talk like that also. when speaking english .... greek words come flying out left and right. and when i speak Greek, lots of american words come flying out. i can't help it. it's natural to me

Tink 25 Avgoustou is now a pedestrian road. that's the road that goes from Koule all the way past the 4 lions (Liontaria)
its become veeeeeeery inconvenient to get around Iraklio since now you have to go all the way around then straight on through. it looks pretty but still there are mopeds, papakia, scooters, motorcycles that go through that street.

oh yea, and earthquakes happen so frequently in Kriti that no one even mentions them anymore. there was a good on in i believe it was July 29th. that night i spent on the floor in my apartment. it's a 1-bedroom and there were 4 of us! so instead of yiayia sleeping on the floor (NEVER!) it was me, and i remember waking up and shouting "MAMA! SEISMOS!" (MOM EARTHQUAKE) and going back to sleep. lol.
the first quake i was in was 2002 and it was BAD!

i think the webmaster deleted one of yianni's posts.
well kokkini is close enough to iraklio. inside iraklio everything is pretty much walking distance. its just too damn noisy! (for me at least)
a little over a year ago, i visited a friends boyfriend's apartment (with my friend of course!) and he had a view of Koule, the kastro. he was paying almost as much as myself for a tiny one room apartment. studio is what we call it in america. where one room is the bedroom/living room/kitchen/dining room & all you have is a separate bathroom, and a balcony large enough to fit one aplostra and one chair.

i dont know much about Chania, but Iraklio is beauuuuuuuuuuutiful in the fall and winter!!!! the big brown, dry, rocky mountains are covered in green during the fall and winter months, its a totally different Kriti!
i would definitely go. THe only thing about Chania in the winter, is that it slows down tremendously. but i guess that would affect more the party goers, and club hoppers.

also, if you will be renting a car. there is a rock taverna in the village of Kiparisi. im not sure what it's called, but its only open in the fall/winter. the food is really good, its has a self serve wine area, the wine is in barrels. and the place is candle lit only. its really cool! maybe Yianni knows what i'm talking about. i've only been there once, and was lucky enough to be there on a night where the xainides were "performing" in the taverna.
