Exploring The Seven Plateaus Of Lassithi

12 October 2015 - 12:54 PM

I was lucky enough to experience all seven Lassithi Plateaus in one day on a hair raising ride. Good job I trust my husbands skill behind the wheel! I'd not have seen such wonderful views without this amazing drive so I thought I'd share a link to my blog here.

Tim, I know that you will find the photos of Omalos Plateau and the wartime shrine particularly interesting.

Here is the link:

Kritsa Walking Tour

03 July 2015 - 01:01 PM

If you will be in East Crete between mid August and mid October I'll be delighted to show you around Kritsa, where my book Kritsotopoula, Girl of Kritsa is set.

Contact me via kritsayvonneATtalktalk.net replace the AT in this address with @

Or via my website www.kritsayvonne.com

I'll show you where the heroine of my story, Rodanthe actually lived, the church where her father was the Papas and other key areas that relate to the story.

Feedback from other people is that the tour really helps to bring the story alive.

Of course, no purchase of the book is necessary, but I will be pleased to let you know where you can buy a copy.

I look forward to meeting you.

Battle Of Crete

20 May 2015 - 06:23 AM

Today there are many events throughout Crete to commemorate the Battle of Crete. I found a lovely old blog post and thought some Explore Crete users would appriciate it too. click on the link.

Party Invitation

27 April 2015 - 07:50 PM

After a few hiccoughs over the date I'm pleased to invite Explore Crete forum members to a party in Kritsa on 28th May 2015.

The event is to celebrate the launch of my novel, Kritsotopoula, Girl of Kritsa, based on the true story of a village lass called Rodanthe who fought against Ottoman oppression in 1823.

In many ways my writing journey started on this forum and the Explore Crete site certainly proved to be my favourite research tool, a fact that I've given sincere thanks for in the acknowledgements section.

If you use Facebook you can find full details via this link:

In summary, the event is in the centre of the upper part of Kritsa high street outside of Nikitakis gift shop and Aristidis Cafe, from 5.30 p.m.

There will also be a book signing event at Eklektos Bookshop, Elounda on 9th June and we'll be having cake to celebrate the fact that it's Rodanthe's name day.

I'll be delighted if you can make either of these events. X
