May 28 for me (well, we actually arrive on the 29th). I've been planning this trip for more than a year, so it's hard to believe it's right around the corner. 8)

I don't get very exicted when I make a new trip, dunno why I always kept it as something that has to be worked out rather than exciting. And yet I am going to be there in 7 days. I am still trying to work out for a room.
Now, comes what it may, I will be in Crete also if I find no room in advance.

Anyway, whoever has an advice, this is my situation.
Arriving in 7 days and I need to find a room at about 300 Euros a month: 400 for one month would be too much. Why? Cause my intention is:
1) I stay for sure 1 month at prices like 300
2) In that month I will also look for a job, for if I find it I can self finance a _prolonged_ vacation, till october if necessary for the work. 400 would start looking like a cheap hotel rather than a room.

Now, it may happen:
1) No job, though I deem it unlikely. Till 2 years ago I managed a bar and worked in it as bartender too for 5 years and we had a queue outside the door every night lol. I will then just enjoy this month of vacation.
2) i get the job, I stay as long as necessary for it, october included if necessary.

Now my problem is: I have found no room.

If I find an hotel, this would increase my expenses (hotels include many things I need not, and yet one has to pay for them as well you know): this would force me to cut my stay to 10 or 15 days, significantly reducing my chances to find a seasonal employmnet too: having no room triggers sort of a vicious circle. Finding a room triggers a virtuous loop.

I therefore need a room, cooking corner and use of the bath.

I have been told that for a room one has to pay say the 250 or 300 a month plus a deposit: that is fine to me. It is for _me_ a calculated risk. That the deposit is not refundable if I don't stay until all august, this too is fine to me. The whole point is: if I stay one month, chances I get a job are not bad - I am not a tourist who goes way after 10 days I mean cause has a family or kids or school over here or so. So I am available to provide the deposit too, if it is used to pay the last (3rd or 4rth) month too.

This has been explained to me later on, very kindly I must say, by Yannis, who was not supposed to explain this since he doesn't rent rooms lol. The problem seems to be that those who rent rooms do not explain this or their terms, and if you say you stay one month, they just dismiss you.

Whoever has ideas about rooms at 300 in hersonissos, please mail me or pvt message me as soon as possible for I am to be there in a week and looking for an hotel right now - whereas of course hotels would ask me at least one week. I just need to know the conditions for the room. If they want me to _grant_ that i stay 4 months, I cannot grant this without telling a lie: i can grant I pay one month and the deposit, all the rest (that is, actually staying 3 or 4 months) _entirely_ depends on whether I find an employmnet for the season or not. But this does not affect who rents the room, for they get my money anyway, which of course is as good as anyone's else LOL :-)

So, as you see, when I make a trip rather than excited I start working out a plan lol

Ok, I just booked an hotel in Hersonissos. For now just one week. I will look for a studio room at 300 a month once there in Hersonissos, though the hotel has a nice price: two weeks is 350Euros, this is a _competitive_ price for a single room and with all the benefits of an hotel, pool lounges meals etc, which i don't really need (think of the pool lol, i don't _really_ need it) but for that price sounds pretty good anyway.

Anyway whoever has ideas for rooms at 250 a month can still message me. I'd still prefer paying 250+250 deposit for a month or at most 300+300 with the option to prolong rather than 700 for an hotel month though of course after all 700 a month in an hotel, meals included, is still an option compared to 300+300 with no meals, _in_case_ I stay _only_ one month finding no job.

Seeing you over there in Hersonissos then - and damn I am afraid Yannis will have to deal with too much tea LOL

Hi all , sadly unable to visit Crete this Summer but was in Hersonissos in October and had a fab time , me and my friend left our kids and husbands at home for a week , oh what luxury !! This was my third visit to Crete but my friends first and she was very impressed . We enjoyed it so much that we have already booked a return visit to the same place in June of next year , watch out Hersonissos......... Feel excited for all of you going there soon and hope you all have great holidays , don't forget the insect repellant ( we were both bitten very badly , we were obviously just too irresistably tasty :wink: ) Anyone going to Hersonissos pay a visit to Players where they have 2 for 1 drinks and very cheap , also lovely barstaff . We were unsure how two women mid thirties would get on alone but were made extremely welcome by all and would go back tomorrow , have good times , regards Toni. 8)
