May 28: That's the day my wife and I leave for our two-week trip to Crete. The countdown has begun!

that's just at the end of our hols, but very possible and a good idea

Hey Chris,

You are starting to scare me with your comment about raki. I tried some ouzo a few weeks ago and I think I need to develop my taste for it...lol

It would be fun to meet you and Mandy or anyone else from this forum when we are in Crete. I'll email you where we are staying.

that feeling is nearly as good as being there!! where are you staying Dutch?

It would be fun to meet you and Mandy or anyone else from this forum when we are in Crete. I'll email you where we are staying.

We get into Heraklion by ferry from Piraeus at 5:30 am. We'll take the bus from there to Matala. I assume we'll be in Matala by noon or so...maybe earlier.
I guess we could meet at our hotel / bar :-) prior to supper or earlier if you are around.

What do you think ?

royal belverdere! that sounds posh...hersonisus is a bit too intense for us, we like the quiet south coast

you'll love elounda, i wish i could remember the name of the a taverna we found there, it's on the main drag and looks nothing from the outside but the inside is full of pictures from the last 20 years, including pictures of him visiting manchester! i had the best gyros there last september....

i think we should be eating the lion, i'm hoping they have mussels for a starter and i'll be looking for some fish for main course
