Details of attractions, photos of the area, in particular Sissi. I have signed up to the newsletter and Cretan Gazette but not received anything.

Summersun,
Its a two way process, signing up for the Cretan Gazette will only bring you what is that particular issue, and now that you have identified the area of interest, anyone here who knows Sissi may chose to try and answer your questions. You have to do some digging yourself though. I went to the Explorecrete Home page and then selected the search box for this site, entered Sissi and it came back with seven pages of hits. Doing the same may take you a fair way towards discovering the information you seek.

This website is excellent.

I too have a website at:

http://crete.wordpress.com

Which you may find interesting, it is different to this site, certainly, but I think it has it's value.

Thanks for the info I will take a look. One thing I have been wondering about is a village map, most tourist sites you can find nice touristy type maps of the location which shows the vital things plus others, any idea where I would find one or if anyone has one? Also, I am use to driving in places such as Balearic Islands and Corfu - would you recommend driving, are the roads badly made, busy etc.

Cretan Gazette is sent out on roughly monthly basis, it last went out a day or two ago. I received mine without any problems. You might want to check your email spam folder, just in case.

me too, received 30th April.
I wouldn't have though Sissi big enough to have a street map, not an official one anyway. Maybe some of the hotels will put out a rough plan showing their particular places. Have you thought of looking at Sissi on Google earth? It's easy enough to find and there are plenty of photos linked to the place that will answer many of your questions in the meantime.
Driving. Most of us have no trouble driving in Crete, the roads are not a problem these days. Do a serach on here for driving and see some comments from previous posts.
Did you do a google search on Sissi?
