Probably the only good news for Kostas Karamanlis, the Greek Prime Minister, in the last few months. SOURCE: Kathimerini
Unfortunately for Mr. Karamanlis, the good news end here because thousands of Greeks took to the streets Thursday (April 2) to protest a government decision to freeze wages in public and state-run companies.
Public utility services were closed and air, train and sea transportation services were stopped for several hours. Mass media stopped reporting on daily events. Teachers, hospital workers and journalists also joined the strike.
Strikes were reported in Athens, Thessaloniki and other major Greek towns.
