Hi all,
for the last couple of weeks I have been working endless hours for the re-design of http://www.explorecrete.com and it is too late for my Christmas wishes, but I still have time to wish
Happy New Year 2008
to all of you.

Maybe he started early ?
It doesn't seem like 7 years since many of us were able to wish one another Xronia Polla in person at Vamos - but I wish all friends, old, new, in Crete and elsewhere, a happy and healthy 2008.

Happy New Year everyone.
My family and I are off out now to start celebrating the new year by watching the Nos Galon races in our village. We will probably not return until the early hours after visiting friends so I am taking this opportunity whilst able to do so
The races are held each New Years Eve to celebrate the memory of a great Welsh athlete called Guto Nyth Bran and involve childrens races, adults and fun run through the town. Each year a mystery runner carries a lit torch from the place where Guto is buried in a mountain top cemetery to the town and there is always great discussion as to who this runner will be. In previous years we have had Mary Rand and David Bedford amongst many famous celebrities who have carried the torch.
So Happy New Year one and all, and thanks for all the contributions to a great web site............

Thank you Yannis for those words - exactly what I would have liked to have said.
Happy New Year to all our friends on Explore Crete - hopefully we'll meet up again next year and indeed meet some more of the members.
We are going to have a quiet evening tonight - an early drink down the pub and then a good meal (haggis!) and vegetate in front of the television. We had a few friends to dinner last night, which ended up a late session, so don't want a repeat!
This year has been rather mixed - one of the good bits was three holidays in Crete and we really feel we are getting to know the island, though there is so much more to explore. Also, only 2 more years to go until we can make our dream of moving to Crete a reality.
All the best for 2008 to one and all.

Hi Yannis,
It's hard learning some Greek.
κάνω ρεβεγιόν
reveillonner = have christmas eve party
Greek-English
κάνω
v. commit, make, do
ρεβεγιόν
n. New Year's Eve, Hogmanay
"ρεβεγιόν" should be the translation of Hogmanay, which is New Years Eve in Scottish so that one was o.k. As for the rest, Tim was right when he hinted that I had started early. I started yesterday evening because I thought it was Monday
So again, now in my own language; Zalig Uiteinde en een Gelukkig Nieuwjaar. Whereby "Gelukkig" may be changed to "Zalig" when your a Catholic.
No, I'm not going to translate it. It's great to have such an International Site

Enjoy it Wim - and all you other friends of Crete.
Tim - about to venture forth into the town that likes to celebrate in fancy dress that takes no account of the season!

It's a little late for "kalles Giortes'' I think, but for the Explore Crete members and friends; a happy 2008. I wish you good health, wisdom and above all a lot of happiness. Xronia polla!
