Locomotive In Iraklion

good morning all... :)

i`ve a little question...

in iraklion nearby the old harbour people can find an old locomotive since many years.

how and why does it found the way to crete, although there are no lines and no trains on the island???

and why it's standing always there???

Well, it HAS to.... there are no lines to go anywhere! Maybe as a "reminder" to whomever are responsible for creating railroad tracks? :)

Joke, joke.... I would like to know also why it's there. Is it in a public place? Or in the garden of some ol' railroad amateur?

This thing has been removed from the port and now there is a traditional fishing boat in its position...

I dont know its history but i used to play there when i was in primary school :)

It was used in the harbour many years ago. Don't know more details.

Someone once suggested to me,that it was bought in by the Germans during the occupation.
If there is any truth in this or not,I cant say.
