Hi all
Would you please tell me how I can find information on live musical and cultural events going on around the island.
I will be in Crete between 6Sept - 21Sept, staying in the city of Heraklion. Any help would be much appreciated.

if you speak Greek (I suppose you do), then a valuabe source of information is the website of the daily Cretan newspaper www.patris.gr

Thanks Webmaster Yannis, my Greek is very basic but I will try. I specifically want to listen to live Cretan music. I have been listening to Kritikos 88.7 over the internet and love it. If you can recommend any places it would be much apprecaited.

Hi Vango,where are you staying?
Keep an eye out for fly posters advertising live music.We were lucky enough to see Psarantonis 2 years back in Malia of all places!
There are 2 places I know of where you will find live Cretan music everynight.
One is "Taverna Gounas" in Rethymno old town.
The other one is in Hania.Its called "Cafe Kriti",the music usualy starts there about 10-30pm and often goes on till dawn!
Best of luck with your search,listening to Kritikos radio is good,but there is nothing like live music!

I am going to probably stay in Chersonissos because it is near Heraklion and its central for getting around other parts of the island. Are there any live music taverns in Heraklion? Thanks
