We are a family of 5 looking to book a holiday in Crete next year (July/August). Looking for suggestions of where to stay. Our eldest son is 13, the next 8 and our daughter 6. We are looking for somewhere that is not too commercialised with a nice beach for the youngest 2, places of interest to visit and some nice (not too rowdy) bars where we can all sit in an evening. The furthest we have been in the past is Spain. Where would you suggest please.

hi Katrina
why not try Stalis, I think it might suit you as it's not as busy as some of the other resorts, but has a lot to offer and the beach is fantastic.
but wherever you decide to go, you will have a great time.

regards.

Chania is great. I lived in the heart of Chania for 1 yr. There are so many things to do and see. The evenings ROCK, especially the Limani (old harbour). You will find a lot of places for amazing nitelife entertainment !
Lots of Cafes, little Discos, little bars and incredible restaurants. There's also alot of evening entertainment on some of the beaches (Agia Marina, Kalamaki, Kalathas, Nea Katastimata etc...)
I LOVE Crete and especially Chania.

See ya later,
Spiros :)

As others have mentioned here, Stalis would be perfect for your trip. It's not a huge trek from the airport, it's not too rowdy and it's a lovely resort with a fantastic beach. I went there last year and would recommend it to anyone.

Katrina... I went to Stalis earlier this year, with my family, (3 adults and 4 kids) and we all had a fantastic time, we stayed at the Dionysos
Apartments. We loved the place that much, we are all going back next year.

Hi, why not get in touch with LINK REMOVED - PLEASE READ FORUM GUIDELINES. They are based in Agios Nikolaos and have properties all around the East of Crete, that they can taylor to your requiments. I would sugest somewhere in Agios Nikolaos as it is a lovely town, with lots of Blue Flag beaches, pleanty to do and see, and although not "lager loutish" has some wonderfoll tavernas and bars to relax in at night.
You can see mre about the town by lookin at the Demos site for the ara on www.aghiosnikolaos.gr . Im sure you will love Crete, Its a beautiful island.
