Sadly Chris had a relapse last night, her Trachy got bunged up and she nearly died. Thaks to a nurse noticing she was rushed into ICU and is now back on a ventilator.

Pops it really is a small worls isn't it in the grand scale of things. very weird how we both found this amazing site only to realise how near we live to each other.

Well Chris was due home at 7pm and was left at Exeter airport until 9pm before being transferred to Wonford hospital.!!!! Great care eh!!!
Apparently she didn't have a heart attack. Her heart was beating at 300 bpm and they couldn't stop it. She suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen, we are yet to fing out how bad the damage is. She will spend a long time in hospital before going into rehab. We have been warned if it happens again they won't be able to stop it, and no-one knows why it happened.
Pops i used to live in Cullompton, i went to school there in the eighties.!!!

I guess they will bring your mum to our hospital to or will it be Tiverton?

She was due into the hospital last night about 7pm our time, she was coming by air ambulance. Just waiting to hear from the kids to see if she did indeed arrive. I work in the evening so not heard anything since 5pm last night.
I am really humbled by all this i must admit, I echo really what Pops said about everyones concerns about total strangers. you are all amazing people and i thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being so kind. If the world was full of people like yourselves what a wonderful place it would be to live in. Enough now i'm getting soppy.

Hi all.
Well Chris is being airlifted back to devon tonight. She is still not able to talk but can mouth words.
Wim....Chris is 53 and had already had 2 strokes before, plus problems with high blood pressure. Her daughters are not what you would wish on anyone and have caused her a lot of stress recently,that is why i assume she had the heart attack. I always find it strange too that people go on holiday then something like this happens. Unfortunately the daughters are still being incredibly selfish and spiteful to other members of the family here and i doubt it will stop when they come back tonight. We can only hope and pray they keep their vinictiveness away from their mother.
Pops... glad to hear your dad had somewhere close by and hope that your mum makes a full recovery.

Chris is now on the ward, The tour rep had rooms spare for my son-in-law, but has his 2 sisters are out there and money was so tight he didn't fly out. Maybe your mum and Chris will get talking.
There was a hotel nearby but i can't remember the name of it, i'm sorry.
With any luck your dad should get a room at the hospital, i think the girls have just been sleeping on the chairs outside the ITU room.

I am so sorry to hear about your mum Pops. I do hope she makes a speedy recovery. Chris is in University Hospital of Hereklion.
They have decided not to bring her back just yet, looking more at next week. She has ITU Psychosis. they are hoping to put her in a main ward today, she still has the Trachy in for her breathing. Most of the family are back now, just leaving 2 daughters there.

Chris was taken off life support on Friday but had to have a Tracheoctomy (spelling) as she couldn't breathe. She has made improvemnets over the week-end. There was talk of her coming home yesterday!!! Air ambulance was mentioned, but then my daughter said the Dr's didn't know what an air ambulance was.!!! I know the Sky Express is in Hereklion as i found it on the net and that is converted to an ambulance. The rep had no news/updates at all yesterday so we are all in the dark as to what is happening. I personally feel it's too early for her to be flying back just yet, but i'm no doctor so will ahve to wait and see if we get any info today.

Ok, rep over there has found my son-in-law and his brother a room for 20 euros a night, so that's a start.
The mum has opened her eyes but that's all we know for now.

Well apparently there are no rooms left at the hospital.!! So i need any suggestions please for cheap B&B's as close to the hospital as possible.
My son-in-law and his brother are hoping to fly out in the next couple of days. As soon as they can find a flight.

Thanks everyone, the hospital accomodation looks like the best bet from the sounds of it. The main problem at the moment is lack of understanding between doctors and family as no-one speaks greek from the family's side and i don't think anyone has come across an English speaking doctor. We know now that her insurance will cover everything so that is a relief.

Thanks very much for that. My son-in-law has to go to Wales tomorrow to get his passport, then we are trying to get him flight for Friday. The holiday company have said they can provide a room for 1 member of the family, but there are 3 of his sisters there at the moment, due back
Tuesday. So maybe him getting room in hospital would be better. It's an hour to the hospital from the resort.

Please can someone help. My son-in-law's mum had massive heart attack on monday and is in Universtiy hospital in Heraklion. We are getting no info from drs there and my son-in-law is looking to fly there on Tuesday to be with his mum, (family there now). We need to find very very cheap accommodation as close to the hospital as possible. At the moment nobody is allowed to see her, they are being made to wait upstairs in the hospital. Anyone know why this is ?? Any help someone can give us will be greatly appreciated.
