In Topic: Happy New Year, All

29 December 2012 - 05:08 PM

Hi to all of you,

I am happy seeing some life in this forum, does not happen too often. I have often wondered how you were getting along, Pam, but I assumed that no news were good news, you are enjoying your life in Crete, which is all that matters.

But it would be wonderful to meet up again in May, if we can make it to find a date suitable for everybody.

Maybe we could have the Christo lamb up in Asisis (hope I did not get the name wrong again, keep forgetting), which Ros introduced me to, and it is simply fantastic, the place and the food!
If Ros could put you up for the night, it would be just perfect.

A happy new year to you all from me and my (at the moment) 8 dogs.

:-)

Something went awfully wrong, Dinny can you delete the superfluous ones?

Well, Wim... as you can see, deleting the last post messed up everything. Sigh!
Sorry about that - but the photos were beautiful! As long as they lasted... ;-)

Hi Wim,

Well, first of all, it is good to hear from you again! Sorry to hear that the romantic part of a great new friendship didn´t turn out as you had hoped - still, good friends with whom you can share your interests are not that easily found, so hopefully you still enjoy the friendship part in full. ;-)

And, yes, it would be nice to see you down here whenever you care to go for a holiday. Right now it´s so sizzling hot that one can only stay indoors or in the waves, but September would be a nice choice.

Keep us posted
:-)

In Topic: Work In Crete

02 February 2011 - 07:15 PM

I see the same situation down here, in South Crete. Foreigners that live here all year round and have worked for years in the olives during winter months are now left home because there are loads of newcoming Bulgarians and other foreign citizens working for less. And since the Greeks have a financial problem, generally speaking, they would take anyone working for less with no regard to old working relationships.

You really had a hard time, Time, I'm sorry to admit that I eventually gave up, because - as you mentioned - they kept coming up everywhere. Actually I start to get a bit worried about Yannis! Did you get in contact with him, Tim? It's not really like Yannis to disappear from the scene for such a long time without taking care of actions to be taken?

Well, I hope somebody has news from Yannis, just to know that he is around and OK.
