I am pleased to say that finally I was able to rehome the puppy last evening.

Thanks to those who messaged me, even if you weren't able to take him.

Thanks Krista and Paul.

Puppy is still here. Now getting desperate as I leave for the UK early next week.

The animal rescue shelter in Chania cannot help, they are full, they even went as far as saying he should be put to sleep! As much as I hate to say this, that may well be the only option left to me... I sincerely hope not, but having asked anyone and everyone I really don't know what else to do, other than pray someone will give him a home.

Here in the northwest, near Chania, it rained all night including a couple of claps of thunder. We had a few early morning showers but now it's dry although overcast. This is quite normal for October, this time last year, or possibly a little earlier in October, we had torrential rain. Back in the UK apparently, or in Norfolk at least, it is dry but cold. I know where I'd rather be here at least I've got all the doors and windows open and it's around 22 deg.

Hi Jem, glad you had a god holiday.

I'd like to make a general observation, which applies to the area I live in - west of Chania - and may not apply elsewhere on the island. Yes we have a litter problem but this problem increases dramatically during the tourist season. My neighbours and I are constantly cleaning the area outside our homes and a friend, whose property borders the beach, spends much time each morning cleaning the beach area just beyond his garden of rubbish discarded by holidaymakers despite the fact that waste bins are provided. So perhaps it's not just the local people that need to be educated.

In Topic: Cretan Yarns / Yarn Stores In Chania Area

Tinks in the central shopping area of Chania, away from the harbour, there are many shops specialising in crochet and knitting yarns etc. Most of these shops are very small but once inside you will see they fill every conceivable space with their merchandise. Your best bet is just to wander around and look in the shops to see what is available.

I too am a crochet fan (but can't stand knitting!) and have never had problems obtaining yarn which are reasonably priced.
