You can buy ordinary phone cards at kiosks and supermarkets, but they are an expensive way of phoning home. You should look for the type of card that has a number to scratch out on the back. These give you between one and two hours of talking time for 5 or 6 euros. There are several brands: the one I've found most often is called Ya!

They aren't always easy to find: depending on where you are going to be, kiosks are probably your best bet.
