having gone through the crust of one of the snow covered gullies on Pachnes, i can assure you it's an interesting experience...

i was ok but the pants had to go :D

imho you need good boots for any walking, some of the rocks formations you'll find can be very destructive on boots, and i'm not just talking about mountain walking, if anyone has ever been coast walking round shinara/amoudi they'll know about the razor sharp formations there. i probably replace my boots about every 3/4 years and i think my current ones are the best i had ( meindl btw)

i remember buying some sandals ( the ones with big tough soles) and the sales assistant said 'you can hike in these'... not where i go walking mate i replied! :lol:
