well I still haven't heard from my school in Athens about accommodation so I've started to look for my own apartment in teh classifieds.

Trouble is we don't measure property in square metres in the UK. We advertise the number and types of rooms, so I have no idea how large these apartments are.

Could someone please give me a clue as to the approximate size of a one bedroom apartment with kitchen or kitchenette and bathroom?

Thank you

Oh, and if anyone knows of an apartment or room to rent in Athens, all the better!

Panic over- got in touch with the school and all is well.

I'd still like the information though, if anyone can help. i imagine it might be useful for future use.

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, kitchen and living room should be about 50 or 60 square meters

or 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and a kitchen/living space could even fit snuggly into 40sqm.

the best thing to do is view a few different size ones that are for rent or sale then you can judge what size apartment would suit you best for when you actually go looking for one.

Good idea, but I was panicking a bit online this afternoon when I thought I was going to have to find my own apartment!
It's all sorted now and I have an apartment within spitting distance of the Akropolis (almost)!

Well enjoy yourself in Athens, when are you traveling out?

Will you have a few days before you start the course?
Dave.

Hope all goes well for you Emma - do post on here and let us know how it is all going. It looks a bit cold in Athens at the moment, so hope you've packed some warm clothes!

Thanks guys. I'll try to keep my blog updated and I daresay I'll get chance to come say hello now and again.

I've been keeping an eye on the forecast, like all true Brits :o and I think I've managed to miss the worst of the bad weather. At least the temperature should be back into double figures within a couple of days.

:o

tomorrow!

Allegedly he was ill in bed. He apparently turned up around 6:25, about 10 minutes after I left, peeved because I wasn't in and hadn't left the keys. Qiote frankly, if a plumber ain't turned up by four, I'm assuming he ain't coming.
