I'm going to Chania for 2 weeks in late September / early October and I would like to find any lovely yarn stores that Chania or the surrounding area (or anywhere at all in Crete, for that matter) may have to offer.

I took up crochet and knitting last year and would love to see what Crete can offer in the way of yarn as well as the herbs, olive oil, raki, Rakolmelo and honey I am already hopelessly addicted to!

If anyone knows of any yarn stores or somewhere I may find handspun yarns, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you!

Tinks,
Now as much as I dislike shopping I am not against meandering around the streets of the Old Town, so will have a look for you next week when I am out there. That is of course if the weather is not too hot!!! :)

Tinks in the central shopping area of Chania, away from the harbour, there are many shops specialising in crochet and knitting yarns etc. Most of these shops are very small but once inside you will see they fill every conceivable space with their merchandise. Your best bet is just to wander around and look in the shops to see what is available.

I too am a crochet fan (but can't stand knitting!) and have never had problems obtaining yarn which are reasonably priced.

Thank you both!

It's much appreciated. I've heard Greek cotton is very good quality.

Hope you have a wonderful time, DaveW!

As Nita has provided you with sound advice, does this mean that I am excused walking the shops?
