If you type in 'shipwreck' in the search facility on the forum page it will take you to a posting by MickMcT in early 2006 where they were discussing a shipwreck off Elafonissi. I don't know if this is the one you are thinking about. Perhaps you could send a PM (personal message) to Mick who appears to be into diving and may know of another wreck or two.
Best of luck and good diving.
If you look like your passport picture....you probably need the holiday!

There is the well known picture of such a vessel on another island - (Zante ???) It is on many postcards on sale in Crete and elsewhere in Greece. http://www.zanteguru.../shipwreck.html
If you look through the photo gallery on this site then it seems there are two smaller wrecks in Crete, one at Gramvousa, another at Kissamos. See photo galleries of Caroline Scott. Pawel Stefaniack and Manolis Tsantakis for images. Go here for the photoalbums: http://www.explorecr...gallery/album03

Edited Message. Dave, I couldn't get the links right so I've changed my posting- a perk of being a moderator- I'm sorry that your posting may not now be seen in context. (o I'm not really given the nature of it ;-) )

...and I bet Tim only remembered the wreck in Kissamos because of the attractive young lady  I am not suggesting that Tim only remembers wrecks either!!!

Well a ship wreck in the sand? Where to find one? Have a look at the island of Zakyntos.
There is a wreck which often is found on postcards, it might be the one you are looking for.

I am sure that you will also be able to find an attractive young lady on that beach, just like my good friend Tim apparantly did in Kissamos. It might be a memory for the rest of your life.

Good luck!!

Dave & lars
Although I now live only a few miles from one of the most recent shipwrecks, the M.S. Napoli, ( http://www.eastdevon...ck_photos1.htm) sadly we do not have any mermaids such as the Kissamos one.

Hi redape

The coaster at the bay of Kissamos, which features in my picture gallery is no longer there. I went back the following year to see it and but it had gone. I don't remember is being half covered in sand though, so it may not be the one you are referring to.

However, there is another at Balos Bay at Gramvoussa. You can see this by visiting:-

Hope this helps.
