Today, the national newspaper "Vradini tis Kiriakis" has published an interview with Yannis Samatas.
I have posted a copy here: http://members.explo...?showtopic=1963
Unfortunately the article is in Greek.

The friends from Vamos 2000 will recognize themselves in one of the photos. The Millenium event is being mentioned in the interview.

Hi Yannis,

I see that you today have "published" a scanned(?) page from a Greek paper with an article about yourself. It must be a very interesting article and I would like to read it. Unfortunately my Greek isn't up to reading and understanding that much. But I can see that I myself appear in one of the pictures and I understand that Vamos 2000 is mentioned.

I clearly remember when the pictures was taken: January 2nd, 2000 sailing to Loutro.

Yannis, please don't be shy - tell us about the article, please.

Birgit

My dear Birgit,
you have been learning Greek for quite some time now. Don't you think this is a good chance to use your knowledge?

What a nice day that was: Together with dear friends visiting Sfakia, Loutro, a stop in Askifou for pites and a glass of raki and so on. To tell you the truth, since that trip, when ever we pass Askifou( and that is quite often), we stop at the same place and do " the same precedure as the first time". I have been taught by the nice lady there how to make our own pites.............but the cheese will always come out in one way or the other, even before the pita is in the pan.
This means that I also bye a bottle of their raki, which is very good, to stand not far away when I am trying to fix some pites next time. In case
of an other pita break down, we will have just a small glass to comfort me and of course my poor wife. My poor wife? Yes of course my poor wife, she is waiting for pites me meli and all she will have are some bad words coming from the kitchen.
Well I am a Scorpio and have not given up hope yet!

Congratulations Yannis, keep up the good work. I am working at the moment to translate the article. Siga Siga I do it in the Greek way.

Ian,
I am not shy but I am busy with developing new pages for the website. Right now I am working on a detailed guide for the archaeological site of Gortys, as well as a city tour of Heraklion. Both of them need a lot of work and my time is very limited.
Lars has announced that he is working on translating the interview (thanks), and he will have something ready soon.

Carolina,
You write siga siga. Yes I am sorry but I do not have the time to translate Crete, the center of the earth at the moment. It was not my intention to translate it and put it on the messageboard. I simply was going to translate to myself.
So please, if you like, you are free to take over the mission.

I know Lars, I was joking with you. I started to translate some of it before and lost my connection and the text while doing so. I'll try it again in a word doc and then post it.. if I get some time!
