It is now over 31 years ago since I moved to England, to the country that I have always felt most relaxed and at home in.

Like all the others here, I love Greece in general, and Crete in particular.

In England, I don't know a single of my original countrymen - not by design, I just don't; and I certainly wouldn't seek any out, just for the sake of the old country. Should I one day spend serious amounts of time in Crete (which I would love to do, albeit 'only' for months at a time) I would wish to live with only the necessary social and other contact to other ex-pats. I certainly couldn't possibly entertain the idea of clubbing together with any of them, regardless how much I might otherwise like them.

When in Rome, do like the Romans. When in England, do like the English. When in Crete, do like the Cretans.

Just my ha'penny's worth.

Henry.

Welcome back Santo. My hubs electrics skills could also be of use if we ever got this off the ground....and I'm a pretty good painter on the quiet too.

Am working on a profile of the village.
Lets not forget to have an equal quantity of Cretan s in our village. Otherwise we might as well stay at home B)

Some bloke in Zoniana.

He says he's run into some unexpected difficulties so we may have to wait a little longer.

Why don't we look at whom is interested and what finances they have and then see what we can raise collectively. B)

I could assist you on that since this is equivalent to my job. All I need is a little time to make a thorough research:)

I wonder Emma, if there was anyone else who understood this joke about Zoniana. If someone did I didn't hear him laugh, did you?

As for Fotini, Andy&Christine, just for the records what help can/would you offer?

Uptill now it's still a Dutch/English enterprise, are there any Cretan boardmembers interested? Because we don't want it to become a Cretan village like thing. Don't we? .

Perhaps not everyone follows the news.

Cracked me up anyway.

Hi ,on a serious note, there are a few issues that need resolving, before this venture even gets off the ground
1 The cost of acquiring the land and buildings

2 Enough commitment both practical and financial from other people interested, it wont work if people get
bored half way through

3 A safe and sustainable water supply

4 The initial expense for a community electric supply

5 Adequate sewerage provision for the whole site

all these costs are going to be have to be met before any renovation can even commence
