Hello all, My name is Yvonne, so to save any confusion I have added extra letters to the end of my name. I too am a Crete lover and myself and my husband Kev own an old property in Latsida that we are slowly renovating. We are hoping to move to Crete in about 5 years, but have to make do with visiting twice a year for now.

We will be coming "home" again on 12 September and staying with Greek friends in Koutoulafari.

I have read some of the blogs and the forums and it is making me even more exited about my visit than ever. : :D

Hello Yvonne :D and welcome!

You are very lucky to have this dream to build on, actually the planning is almost the best part of it. Would you like to share some photos of your place in Latsida? It would be nice to read a blog covering the improvements and preparations to your move, so that we could follow it all the way.

Hi Yvonne,

Is ‘your’ Latsida near Neapoli?

If so, you will be almost neighbors with Yvonne from Kritsa :D

Keep posting how your renovation goes on, so we can cheering.

See you,
W.

Thank you for your birthday wishes Wally, yes it is Latsida near Neapoli.
We have had the house for 3 years in September but are doing it up the Greek way, Siga Siga. That is when we have some money to spend.

We had to demolish most of it originally and are now starting to put electics and plumbing in. I can't wait to see it again in September as we have had a lot of work done since we were there in May. I am hoping to get some good photo's so I can post them when we return to sunny England.

Yvonnetp

I live not far away from your house. If you would like I could take photographs for you on a weekly basis and e-mail them to you. I am already doing this for a couple of other people. (No charge).

I offer this because someone did it for us when our house was being built and I appreciated it so much.

Hope all is going well so far and is on schedule.

Hi, Yvonne, welcome to the site and a belated happy birthday. I'd very much welcome more detail on your experiences as we're looking to renovate an old house one day. We actually stopped in Latsida on our way to Sissi this year for a quick drink and met a couple in the cafenion who had moved there after renovating an old house just up the road, can't remember their names, though, but they used to live in North London near us. It looked like a nice village, though we didn't walk round it much as we'd had a long journey from Sitia and wanted to get to Sissi. Maybe netx year we'll explore a bit more.

Yipee another Yvonne - there are not many of us about.

I liked your idea of adding initials but for extra clarity I have changed my signature to Kritsa Yvonne.

Well, I will be soon as we set off THIS Saturday - thought it would never come!!!

It's so great to be welcomed so sincerely.

John, thank you very much for your kind offer. I am going to ask for a rain check on this as I have waited so long to see the results I can wait for another 3 weeks to see it for myself. However, I would love to take you up on this when we start the next stage of work.

Mythos, welcome to the sight to you too.

Santo, It's amazing to find 3 Wiganers with such an interest on this site. Is it because we love spinich and cheese pies too? (Wigan joke)

*waves* 'Ello Yvonnetp!

There seems to be quite some Crete-a-holics with the (mis)fortune of residing in Wigan now!

Spinach and cheese pies? Never heard of that one....

I'll go with you on that one Tinks :P :P :P

Yvonnetp you may find that although there are 3 of us "Wiganers", both Tinks and myself are actually from the south and reside in the Wigan area. ;) ;) ;)

look forward to your blog and pics.

Hé Santo, yes, isn't it great ;)

I hope all these new members also start using an avatar with their faces on it.
Would be a great help with all these confusing names...and imaging walking around somewhere in Crete and meeting ;)
