Many many of Crete's tavernas have dishes that are suitable for veggies, being veggie is not a problem in Crete.

Though there a few, if any, vegetarian restaurants in Crete, much of the food is suitable for vegetarians (though vegans might have a worse time). During my whole month in Greece I only ate meat two times. I got gemista (stuffed tomato/pepper), xorta (boiled greens), dolmades, gigantes, salads, dips..... Greek food, like middle eastern food is great for vegetarians. Just out of paranoia I usually would ask before I ordered just to be clear that there was no meat in the gemista or dolmades, because it can be found sometimes, but not usually or traditionally. So, to be sure you can ask "xoris kreas"?
