Just been reading the article on Ayia Lake in the new Crete Gazette and seen some of the bird and other wildlife that can be found there. Fantastic. One of many places I've failed to appreciate in the past but hopefully that will be corrected next May.
In the meantime I'll keep looking for my first little bittern in Devon and at a reserve near Glastonbury.

That's really interesting. I don't suppose that article's on line?

I haven't been to Greece for a few years now sad.gif , but I went a number of times to Agia before the LIFE Project kicked in, and it was fabulous. Messy but fabulous.

I went once after the visitor centre was opened, and was devastated. there was virtually nothing there. I was on an EU committee at the time and made comment to TPTB in charge of LIFE, but I never had any feedback.

If it's gone back to how it was before, so much the better!

Have a look at this page: http://intocrete.net/features/birdwatching.asp

Tim I have been to the lake a couple of times and it is a nice experience. springtime was best with lot of birds at that time
There is also a café/taverna if you need something to eat or drink.

I forgot to mention that the signs leading to the lake says Swan Lake not Agia Lake. (if it not has changed again) dry.gif
