also i feel if i use greek words that other people are not familiar with, if they are really interested they ask what it means.
but i can understand wanting to use brackets for the translation. i dont do it on purpose, i usually talk like that also. when speaking english .... greek words come flying out left and right. and when i speak Greek, lots of american words come flying out. i can't help it. it's natural to me
12 days to go and C O U N T I N G ! ! ! ! !
oh & temporarily we will be living in my apartment in Iraklio. But as soon as i get down there we're going to look for a place to live in Kokkini Hani.
i dont have a family pic in the pics you searched in. But there is a pic of the 3 lyrarides that played at our engagement. Hopefully we will get married and stay married. Maybe you can give some advice .... sag to sag. (we have the same birthday)
Wim, where i come from we dont play with bouzoukia. But i am the one holding the mantolino, pretending to play it very well.
I wonder what happend to all the "holiday loves and lovers" which have so intimately shared their affections and kamakis adventures with us.
Are they still in love, do they still see/write/phone/exchange pictures/mail, and weep at night?
Keep us informed, so we'll be able to enjoy this life internet soap
Tell uncle Wim about it
hello uncle Wim. how are you? i am doing well and i would like to update your internet soap.
i wanted to let you know, that August 6th of 2006 my cretan man and i got engaged. I have resigned from my job here in New York, and am moving to Crete in the next few weeks. The wedding will be August of 2007.
its become veeeeeeery inconvenient to get around Iraklio since now you have to go all the way around then straight on through. it looks pretty but still there are mopeds, papakia, scooters, motorcycles that go through that street.
oh yea, and earthquakes happen so frequently in Kriti that no one even mentions them anymore. there was a good on in i believe it was July 29th. that night i spent on the floor in my apartment. it's a 1-bedroom and there were 4 of us! so instead of yiayia sleeping on the floor (NEVER!) it was me, and i remember waking up and shouting "MAMA! SEISMOS!" (MOM EARTHQUAKE) and going back to sleep. lol.
the first quake i was in was 2002 and it was BAD!
well kokkini is close enough to iraklio. inside iraklio everything is pretty much walking distance. its just too damn noisy! (for me at least)
a little over a year ago, i visited a friends boyfriend's apartment (with my friend of course!) and he had a view of Koule, the kastro. he was paying almost as much as myself for a tiny one room apartment. studio is what we call it in america. where one room is the bedroom/living room/kitchen/dining room & all you have is a separate bathroom, and a balcony large enough to fit one aplostra and one chair.
i would definitely go. THe only thing about Chania in the winter, is that it slows down tremendously. but i guess that would affect more the party goers, and club hoppers.
also, if you will be renting a car. there is a rock taverna in the village of Kiparisi. im not sure what it's called, but its only open in the fall/winter. the food is really good, its has a self serve wine area, the wine is in barrels. and the place is candle lit only. its really cool! maybe Yianni knows what i'm talking about. i've only been there once, and was lucky enough to be there on a night where the xainides were "performing" in the taverna.
my cousin lives in kokkini hani, has a 1 bedroom on the beach and pays 180 euro a month for rent. so the farther from the centre you go, the least expensive the rent is.
everything was stolen, and they went *POOF* in midair. no one was hurt, but a few people are a whole lot richer. was it right ? no. was it crafty? good enough for hollywooooooooood!
