#10861 Taxi 2007

Posted by katharine on 25 April 2007 - 06:08 PM in Explore Crete

When I joined this forum, very recently, I thought it was a friendly site. I have now re-read the above posts, just to make sure, and the answer to my question is not there. Therefore can I say that I find Antero's response both rude and unfriendly, especially to a new member. If Antero was just having a bad day, perhaps he would like to apologise.

#10854 Taxi 2007

this is probably a rather stupid question ( but that's me). I've just been looking at the explore crete page about taxis and noted the bit about sharing, but not expecting to share the fare. If I get into a taxi at, say Iraklio to go to Ag Nik with my partner, do we pay a total of E50 (as shown in the table) or is it E50 each? Or does the non-sharing of fares only apply if another couple flag down "our" taxi on the road out of the airport to share the same journey, and then the driver makes E100?
Hope this makes sense.

#10415 Voluntary Work In Crete

Posted by katharine on 13 February 2007 - 07:23 PM in Explore Crete

Hi all,
I've only been on this forum for a few days, so I hope you don't mind if I ask a question about life in Crete. I hope to retire or spend a few years there in a couple of years time and am thinking very hard about what everyday life would be like . If I stay in England, I imagine that I would do various forms of voluntary work, most likely in the heritage sector or perhaps charity shop work. Is there a traditon of voluntary work in Crete and what sort of openings are there. Would it be a good way of getting to know people?

#10390 Kalives

Posted by katharine on 10 February 2007 - 05:16 PM in Explore Crete

I stayed in Kalives for a couple of weeks a couple of years ago and we thought the best taverna was Provlita on right on the sea front. Very busy. Lots of Greek families. Usual cats! Occasional big waves, which could catch the unwary. Enjoy! Also an excellent bakers on the main street. We thoroughly enjoyed Kalives, and will return.
