I've Got Piles!

Posted by Kritsa Yvonne, 21 August 2006 - - - - - - · 1,078 views

If you'll pardon the expression!

We live in a small flat here in the UK and at the moment the bedroom looks like a bomb has hit it.

There is the pile to take to Crete so that we have warm clothes to wear on the way back in November, the pile of things to wear whilst we are out there and the pile of clothes to wear whilst traveling NEXT WEEK. (...

There Is A First Time For Everything……..

Previously when we have travelled by road to Crete we have not booked any accommodation in advance. We felt that booking in advance creates an additional stress of “having” to get to a certain place by a certain time and then what happens if we cant find the place? Well the answer to that is of course minor irritation leading to a full-scale...

Plans For The Next Trip

Posted by Kritsa Yvonne, 22 June 2006 - - - - - - · 867 views

Having a job to return to after our spring break in Kritsa was a luxury because usually when I get back I have to start a job search. However, this time I knew I was going back to complete a contract up to the end of June.

As I went into the building the first person I met told me that a colleague had been taken very ill whilst I was away and that she w...

Late April/early May 2006

Up until now all my blog entries have been looking backwards and I had been looking forward to posting an up to date blog within days of getting back from Crete early May. Grrrrr thwarted by sick people who think it is fun to put a virus or Trojan onto our favourite website.

It is hard to imaging what they get from such an action. I logged on as usua...

Autumn 2005

As in previous years as soon as the work contract ended we were off! We hadn’t been able to get away as early as 12th August before so we were looking forward to a “summer” journey by road en route to Crete.

Alan had spent ages planning the trip with the first highlight being a revisit to Innsbruck that had been such a wash out the...

More From 2004

Back from Santorini well rested and a good job too as we still had several weeks left in Crete and 2 more sets of visitors.

Jim and Mo had been to Crete in October about 4 years previously but it had rained practically every day of their holiday, therefore we felt duty bound to show them that the sun does shine. And shine it did…. We had a great...

Santorini – 2 Days Is Not Enough

Posted by Kritsa Yvonne, 27 March 2006 - - - - - - · 1,297 views

We waved my sister and her husband off at Heraklion airport and then drove to the port to start our mini break to Santorini. We left the car in the port car park – a bargain at €3 per day and took the Minoan Lines ferry “Daedalus” that left port at 9.00 p.m.

Arriving in Santorini at midnight we were pleased to easily find a man...

90 Days Is A Magic Number!

Posted by Kritsa Yvonne, 21 March 2006 - - - - - - · 758 views

Work wise 2004 had been good so we decided to treat ourselves to a really long break in Crete, but how long?

After investigating the terms of our UK house insurance, travel insurance and car insurance it appears that 90 days is the longest they expect anyone to be away from home so that set the parameters for the trip.

My job at the NHS ended on 20th Au...

No Power!?!?!

During the summer of 2004 some of Hilary’s family stayed at our house and whilst they were there an electric bill was delivered.

Hilary checks the mail and ensures water bills are paid (you can’t put water onto a standing order) so she looked at the electric bill.

In her next email to me she voiced a concern that there seemed to be a problem...

A “proper” Holiday May 2004

Posted by Kritsa Yvonne, 28 February 2006 - - - - - - · 804 views

Between February and mid August 04 I was working for the NHS on a contract in Sussex but I was able to take a holiday mid way through. So, in May we flew out to Crete for a 2 week holiday, like “normal people”. Well almost, due to the fact that we had left plenty of clothes in Kritsa we were able to travel with only hand luggage so as you ca...
